Wanted: NICU Heroes

Posted on May. 13th, 2013 at 4:30pm

Mead Johnson Nutrition is partnering with Hand to Hold, a national nonprofit Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) parent support organization to launch the ”NICU Heroes Award” in the U.S.

We invite parents of infants and children who have spent time in the NICU to extend a public thank-you to NICU professionals for the heroics they perform daily: dedicating their lives to providing exemplary care to the youngest and most fragile of patients and their families.

Parents and guardians can use the easy-to-complete nomination form at www.handtohold.org/hero to share their NICU stories through May 27, 2013.

One nominee, chosen by an independent panel of NICU health care professionals and parent-leaders of nonprofit premature support organizations, will receive:

  • a trophy and certificate, presented at the winner’s hospital;
  • a $2,500 donation in their honor to the pediatric healthcare charity of their choice*; and
  • a one-year subscription to the Hand to Hold Resource Library for the winner’s hospital.

Only one NICU healthcare provider will be named the 2013 NICU Hero, but all nominees will receive a certificate of appreciation and a copy of the parent essay nominating them.

Parents and guardians of children admitted to any NICU can submit nominations online at www.handtohold.org/hero through May 27, 2013. Children admitted to the NICU need not have been born prematurely, do not have to be a current NICU patient, and may be any age.
