Mead Johnson Colombia was recently honored for its commitment to helping children and families in need.

The award, presented by the Dividendo por Colombia Foundation on behalf of the United Way Worldwide, recognized Mead Johnson Colombia as one of the companies with the highest commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the country. The award noted Mead Johnson enjoyed the highest level of participation of new employees in voluntary activities (60 percent in 2014) and the highest number of new contributions made by its employees in 2014.

Currently, 93 percent of MJN Colombia’s employees donate part of their paycheck to corporate social responsibility programs. Mead Johnson shared the award with two of the biggest companies in Colombia: Unilever and Citibank Colombia. “Because of the ongoing commitment and engagement from employees in Colombia, our company has benefited more than 350 children living in extreme poverty,” said Juan Miguel Silva, human resources manager for MJN Colombia. “Our colleagues’ support has allowed us to expand our initiatives to the three main cities across the country – Bogota, Cali and Barranquilla.”

Since 2011, Mead Johnson Colombia has partnered with the United Way to support vulnerable children and their families through three core programs centered on improving living conditions, quality of life and access to education and training on proper nutrition. Expansion plans this year include helping more children in the most impoverished and vulnerable neighborhoods around Bogota, like Cazuca, and reaching more cities, starting with Cartagena.
