Mead Johnson Takes Action in the Philippines

Posted on Nov. 18th, 2013 at 4:00pm

Mead Johnson has a long history of giving back to communities in the Philippines, and that support has never been more needed than in the wake of Super Typhoon Haiyan. The largest and most destructive storm of its kind ever to reach land, Haiyan – also known locally as Yolanda – slammed into the Philippines on Friday, November 8, killing thousands, dispossessing and displacing millions and literally wiping out many coastal areas.

Before the skies had cleared, Mead Johnson Nutrition hand-delivered a check for 5 million Philippine pesos (US $116,000) to the Philippines Red Cross to aid the storm victims. The company has also been working through official channels to donate and support distribution of its nutritional products – worth an additional 5 million pesos – to the hardest-hit regions of the island nation, where food is in desperately short supply.

With deep roots and long history as a responsible corporate citizen in the Philippines, Mead Johnson is committed to working alongside government authorities and international relief organizations to assist with ongoing recovery efforts over the long haul.
