When Mead Johnson launched Enfamil Human Milk Fortifier Acidified Liquid (EHMFAL) in 2010, it was the first ultra-concentrated human milk fortifier to meet AND and CDC preparation guidelines*.
This commercially sterile liquid is designed to be fed to premature and low-birth-weight infants fed breast milk.
EHMFAL provides 4 g of protein per 100 Cal when mixed with preterm human milk, sup>†, the highest level of protein available in an HMF. Protein is a major driver of lean mass growth and long-term outcomes in premature infants, including increased MDI scores and language development1-3.
EHMAL has ~21% more protein† compared to Enfamil® Human Milk Fortifier Powder, and helps premature infants achieve significantly higher achieved weight, length, head circumference and linear growth rate than Enfamil HMF Powder with the same volume intake4.
* No endorsement by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is intended or implied. † When mixed as directed: EHMFAL + preterm human milk (1 vial + 25 mL).
