Mead Johnson Announces Expansion of Production Capacity in Evansville

GLENVIEW, Ill. Oct 21, 2014 – Mead Johnson Nutrition Company (NYSE: MJN) announced today that it is expanding its production capacity and capabilities at its Evansville, Indiana, facility.

Evansville has been a key facility for Mead Johnson’s U.S. product manufacturing for most of the company’s history. In fact, next year will mark the 100th anniversary of Mead Johnson’s presence in the city. The most recent major expansion of operations here was in 2010-2011, when the company added powder manufacturing and opened the first technology and learning center in the global network of the Mead Johnson Pediatric Nutrition Institute. These latest upgrades to the Evansville campus, including the renovation and repurposing of existing manufacturing space, as well as the installation of new production equipment, are scheduled to begin later this year. This investment further demonstrates Mead Johnson’s commitment to continuous innovation and responsiveness to evolving consumer needs.

“While Mead Johnson is focused on nourishing children for the best start in life, our innovation efforts extend beyond nutritional and health benefits. This investment in our Evansville facility will help us better meet the growing demand for our products, while offering additional value and choice to our consumers,” said Mead Johnson Senior Vice President – Global Technical Operations, Jeff Jobe. “The expansion also enhances our operational diversity and allows greater flexibility in our global supply chain network.”

Jobe stated that the company undertook a rigorous review of options when considering where to expand its production capabilities. Evansville was selected as the site of the multi-million dollar project due to a combination of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, supported by the availability of high quality manufacturing space, the strong pool of local talent and support from the State of Indiana and the City of Evansville.
