A leading civic organization in Evansville, Indiana recently lauded one of Mead Johnson’s employee activity groups for its groundbreaking initiative to introduce young women to careers in science.
Leadership Evansville recently bestowed its 2014 Celebration of Leadership award in the Business/Organizations category to Mead Johnson’s Network of Women (NOW). The award recognized NOW’s Girls in Engineering, Math and Science (GEMS) immersion program at Tekkoppel Elementary School.

Mead Johnson Vietnam, the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health), and the National Hospital of Pediatrics in Hanoi recently announced a nationwide program designed to screen newborns for congenital metabolic disorders (CMDs).

This Earth Day, we’re reminded of one of our former leaders and grandson of our founder, Daniel Mead Johnson, who challenged the company to “look to the needs and demands of tomorrow for today’s standards of performance, and not to the tradition of yesterday.”

Mead Johnson has a long history of giving back to communities in the Philippines, and that support has never been more needed than in the wake of Super Typhoon Haiyan. The largest and most destructive storm of its kind ever to reach land, Haiyan – also known locally as Yolanda – slammed into the Philippines on Friday, November 8, killing thousands, dispossessing and displacing millions and literally wiping out many coastal areas.

As you can see from the picture above, twins Aiden and Ella Binkley are healthy, vibrant toddlers. What you can’t see are the many battles they fought during the first six months of their lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – including brain bleeds, a collapsed lung, life-threatening pneumonia, staph infections and countless blood transfusions. Their current vitality is thanks in large part to the work of Gerard M. Cleary DO, neonatologist at Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH) in Abington, Pennsylvania, and recipient of the first NICU Heroes Award.
